Bob served with the army for 22 years. As a sergeant-major he ran the Warrant Officers' and Sergeants' Mess and as a drill-sergeant he developed a good voice and an air of authority.

He had 10 years of management in civilian life before spotting an advertisement that led to his new career. The job as Beadle to the Master Cutler, at the Cutler's Company in Sheffield Five years ago, knowing that part of the job description was Master of Ceremonies. During that period Bob took a professional toastmasters course under the tutelage of Ivor Spencer, the country's best known exponent of the art.

Now Bob has joined and is a Founder member of the Association of Professional Toastmasters. He is one of the foremost and youngest Toastmasters in the country and enjoys the challenges.
